It’s not a race but I think I am winning !

For the last few months I have been sorting and packing , I am so over it .

My dear husband has now decided to retire, and he finishes this Friday, In his wisdom he decided we could move ourselves, so many trips towing the trailer full of both of our really good stuff…   and we are nearly there.  Our new house is finished and waiting and half moved into, meanwhile we have been repainting this house to get it on the market.  So not much stitching going on here . The cat is making sure he can come too. I think he could have found a bigger box .IMG_0307_1

I found this magazine a few weeks ago and just loved the cover. It is called Frankie and had some interesting articles. The cover is sort of embellished like a rubbing I suppose.  Very Tactile .IMG_0305

It looks like it was taken from beautiful hand stitching .

Boxes Galore

Well to say I am tired of playing with boxes would be an understatement, Already the new house seems to have all we need but there is still a lot more to go north. My stitching is  only happening at night  or at my sewing days so progress is slow.IMG_0298IMG_0299_1IMG_0300_1

These are some more blocks from my Green Tea and Sweet beans Quilt  . Most Of the blocks I am appliqueing on papers . I finished the flower block today at Sewing.

We cleaned out the walk in wardrobe  OMG  did we have a lot of stuff in there. It wasn’t just clothes but also used as storage too. Now I have a line of boxes along the wall of things we are taking to Moore Park IMG_0303_1

I have a couple of other things I have been working on but can’t show them here yet as they are for swaps i am in soon.  The weather has been really crazy 35 yesterday and down to 22 today and windy as but we really do need some rain the poor garden is drying up..

I now have my old camera so am back to using that or my phone . The postman came yesterday with this..

Part 2……

On the second day of the class we were shown how to make a paper pattern of the figure we wanted to create from our painted canvas and our felt.IMG_1780

I decided to draw an owl shape , and also a figure similar to the ones Elizabeth does.

IMG_1778

This is my owl and I have started to cut feathers from my felt.

IMG_1795

This is my face I still have to layer with a backing and some wadding and more embellishment and stitching This was so much fun. I have already made a pattern to do a bird but will finish these ones first.

IMG_1779

Another fun thing was to make a fat cigar from different coloured wool rovings  and then chop them into segments, They look like lollies almost good enough to eat !

This is one of Elizabeths finished figures, I just love them, very quirky…

Fun Felting Workshop

Last weekend I was able to attend a Felting Workshop with Elizabeth Armstrong from Victoria, a group of us met at an amazing location At Kirra overlooking the ocean at the Southern end of the Gold Coast . The first day we painted Canvas that was to be used for our back ground of the figures we were to make.

IMG_1768_1

IMG_1771IMG_1772

I did these three, Nice and bright ! I used stamps and different items for texture.

We then made felt from the lovely coloured wool rovings  almost good enough to eat they  are so soft and the colours were gorgeous.

IMG_1759

Rovings all laid out.

IMG_1761

Some extra silk threads and rovings added for colour and texture.

IMG_1762_1

Then add some olive oil soap  and water and the felting process begins , lots of rolling in bubble wrap and  even throwing the piece around  put it out in the sun to dry and you end up with a piece of felt fabric that was really hard to cut up But the project was to make our own pattern and make a figure .

I,ll blog a bout the rest tomorrow !

Not enough hours in the day !

Hi I am back ! The last couple of months have gone so fast . I have lots to show for it though. We have our retirement house all completed at Moore Park Beach, before I left to go up there for 3 weeks I had 2 Quilting retreats to go to, one in June and one 3 weeks laterso In that 4 weeks I finished 6 quilt tops ! IMG_1696

This Ruby from a Jelly roll and some extra (20) white strips . I saw a tutorial for it on http://sameliasmum.com/ It was fun to do and now I will do another one the same for  Guest room

IMG_1698

This one is for our lounge room, the nights at Moore Park were quite cold so something to snuggle under watching T V .

IMG_1749IMG_1750IMG_1753

I made 2 of these for Talula’s room  I still have the binding to finish on one .

Most of my sewing gear is at Moore Park beach now so the 3 weeks I had up there were great and I love the way my new quilting room works .  The downside is I am still based  here and did I tell you I hate this sorting packing throwing , must admit I am becoming quite ruthless now . I,m over it but there is still a way to go.
