Part 2……

On the second day of the class we were shown how to make a paper pattern of the figure we wanted to create from our painted canvas and our felt.IMG_1780

I decided to draw an owl shape , and also a figure similar to the ones Elizabeth does.

This is my owl and I have started to cut feathers from my felt.

This is my face I still have to layer with a backing and some wadding and more embellishment and stitching This was so much fun. I have already made a pattern to do a bird but will finish these ones first.

Another fun thing was to make a fat cigar from different coloured wool rovings  and then chop them into segments, They look like lollies almost good enough to eat !

This is one of Elizabeths finished figures, I just love them, very quirky…

Fun Felting Workshop

Last weekend I was able to attend a Felting Workshop with Elizabeth Armstrong from Victoria, a group of us met at an amazing location At Kirra overlooking the ocean at the Southern end of the Gold Coast . The first day we painted Canvas that was to be used for our back ground of the figures we were to make.

I did these three, Nice and bright ! I used stamps and different items for texture.

We then made felt from the lovely coloured wool rovings  almost good enough to eat they  are so soft and the colours were gorgeous.

Rovings all laid out.

Some extra silk threads and rovings added for colour and texture.

Then add some olive oil soap  and water and the felting process begins , lots of rolling in bubble wrap and  even throwing the piece around  put it out in the sun to dry and you end up with a piece of felt fabric that was really hard to cut up But the project was to make our own pattern and make a figure .

I,ll blog a bout the rest tomorrow !

Not enough hours in the day !

Hi I am back ! The last couple of months have gone so fast . I have lots to show for it though. We have our retirement house all completed at Moore Park Beach, before I left to go up there for 3 weeks I had 2 Quilting retreats to go to, one in June and one 3 weeks laterso In that 4 weeks I finished 6 quilt tops ! This Ruby from a Jelly roll and some extra (20) white strips . I saw a tutorial for it on http://sameliasmum.com/ It was fun to do and now I will do another one the same for  Guest room

This one is for our lounge room, the nights at Moore Park were quite cold so something to snuggle under watching T V .

I made 2 of these for Talula’s room  I still have the binding to finish on one .

Most of my sewing gear is at Moore Park beach now so the 3 weeks I had up there were great and I love the way my new quilting room works .  The downside is I am still based  here and did I tell you I hate this sorting packing throwing , must admit I am becoming quite ruthless now . I,m over it but there is still a way to go.
